Reports detailing the dispute between the Asian Academy of Aeronautics and engineers employed at the academy first surfaced earlier in May. The engineers left the academy and departed from Addu City Gan International Airport today.
According to reports engineers resigned following a long dispute over salaries. The academy has paid only 30% of the salary since the beginning of the pandemic until march and were not able to come to a reasonable agreement.
Flight instructors at the academy have also raised concerns and protested regarding pay.
Future remains uncertain for the troubled academy with aircraft grounded, engineers resigned and future status of flight instructors unclear.
Nine months have passed since students at the academy first signed a petition regarding mismanagement by the academy which they consistently denied.
