Delta Boeing 717 Lands With Nose Gear Retracted

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 717 made an emergency landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport with nose gear retracted.

The plane came to rest with its nose on the runway, and images posted on social media showed the forward doors open and at least one forward evacuation slide deployed.

Flight 1092 had been en route from Atlanta with 96 passengers and five Delta employees on board. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The runway was closed until the aircraft could be safely moved, causing 72 delays and 21 cancellations at the airport. Delta Air Lines is currently investigating the cause of the malfunction.
