A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing 777 has been seized in Malaysia upon landing in Kuala Lumpur due to pending lease payments.
The aircraft AP-BMH was held by Malaysian authorities in Kuala Lumpur following a court order due to the airliner's failure of payments of over USD 4 million. The same aircraft was seized once before in Malaysia two years ago for the same reason.
The Boeing 777 was held previously over failure to pay USD 14 million in pending payments. At the time the carrier claimed the payments were pending due to the financial impact following COVID-19. The aircraft was released after two weeks as both parties settled.
PIA has sent another Boeing 777 to carry the stranded passengers and crew to Pakistan.
