A routine maintenance operation turned into a serious accident at Johannesburg-O.R. Tambo International Airport, leaving three engineers injured. The incident involved a Bid Air Cargo/Africa Charter Airlines Boeing 737-400(F), which reportedly fell off its front jack while undergoing maintenance.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-400 freighter, was undergoing scheduled maintenance when the unexpected mishap occurred. Sources indicate that the front jack supporting the aircraft failed, causing the nose of the plane to drop suddenly. The impact resulted in injuries to three engineers working on the aircraft at the time.

Emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the scene, providing medical assistance to the injured personnel. The extent of their injuries has not been officially disclosed, but reports suggest they sustained serious harm.

Aircraft maintenance is a critical aspect of aviation safety, and incidents like this highlight the importance of stringent checks and procedures. Airlines and maintenance crews may reassess their protocols to ensure the reliability of equipment used in servicing aircraft.
