Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has reached a major milestone by securing the prestigious EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) Part 145 approval. This achievement establishes Maldivian as the first airline in the country to obtain EASA Part 145 certification, further strengthening its maintenance capabilities and international standing in the aviation industry.

This latest certification marks the 12th Part 145 approval obtained by Maldivian’s Engineering division, which already holds approvals from the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and 11 other foreign civil aviation authorities. The addition of EASA Part 145 reinforces Maldivian’s commitment to maintaining the highest international standards in aircraft maintenance.

The certification allows Maldivian to provide direct maintenance services for European-registered aircraft, significantly expanding its service offerings. With this approval, the airline is now well-positioned to support a broader range of international carriers operating to Velana International Airport (MLE) and beyond.

“This certification provides significant support for future airline and passenger growth,” said Mohamed Hassan, Director of Engineering Operations at Maldivian. “Our current airline partners will benefit from certified line maintenance services and on-site support, ensuring prompt resolution of any aircraft issues that may arise during operations. This achievement underscores our dedication to excellence and our ability to meet the highest international standards. Additionally, this approval opens up more career opportunities for Maldivian aircraft maintenance engineers, mechanics, and other aviation professionals.”

Maldivian’s Engineering division currently provides comprehensive maintenance support for a wide range of aircraft, including the Airbus A320 Family, A330, A350, and Boeing 737, 767, 777, and 787, as well as the Cessna 150/152F, Tecnam P2006T, DHC-6, DHC-8, and ATR-42/72. The airline already delivers line maintenance services to more than 30 international carriers, and with the new EASA Part 145 certification, it is now poised to expand its global footprint further.

The approval marks a significant step in Maldivian’s evolution as a key player in the international aviation maintenance sector. With the ability to service European-registered aircraft, the airline is set to attract new airline partners and enhance its role in supporting the growing demands of the aviation industry.
