A midair collision occurred earlier today between a Bombardier CRJ700 regional jet and a U.S. Army Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter while approaching Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The crash, which took place around 9 p.m. local time, resulted in the aircraft plummeting into the Potomac River. Emergency responders have confirmed that there are no survivors from the crash as of now.

D.C. Emergency Authorities have announced that they have now fully shifted from search-and-rescue to recovery operations, as no survivors were found at the crash site. So far, at least 28 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other agencies are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

The airport was closed almost immediately following the crash, with all inbound flights being diverted to other locations. The crash site is being examined by first responders, who have been working tirelessly to retrieve victims. The FAA has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security of ongoing operations.
