Since its launch in 2024, the Sea to Air Cargo Service has become a transformative force in global logistics, successfully handling over 1,078 tonnes of cargo, equivalent to 258 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs).
The Sea to Air Cargo Service is a hybrid logistics model that combines the strengths of sea and air transport to enhance global trade. Goods are first transported by sea to a central hub and then transferred to airfreight for expedited delivery to their final destination.
By offering a balance of cost-efficiency and speed, this approach is particularly suited for time-sensitive or high-value items such as perishables, electronics, and pharmaceuticals, making it an essential tool for modern supply chains.
This milestone highlights the Maldives’ strategic integration of sea and air transport, which has streamlined cargo movement, improved efficiency, and strengthened connectivity with international markets.
