Maldivian Airlines, the national carrier of the Maldives, has achieved another milestone with the successful operation of its inaugural flight from Beijing today. This marks a significant step forward in the airline’s ongoing expansion into the Chinese market, one of the Maldives’ largest tourist source regions.

The inaugural flight is part of Maldivian’s recently announced direct connections to three major Chinese cities—Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai. This expansion reinforces the Maldives’ position as a premier travel destination for Chinese travelers, now made more accessible through these non-stop routes.
To commemorate the launch, Maldivian offered special promotional fares for Chinese travelers. The introductory return ticket for the Malé-Beijing route was priced at an attractive USD 788. Passengers also enjoyed a 40 kg baggage allowance.
China is a key focus in Maldivian’s long-term strategy, as it contributes significantly to Maldives tourism. The addition of Beijing to Maldivian’s network strengthens economic, cultural, and tourism ties between the two nations.
