Since its launch on March 1, 2024, the Maldives Emergency Medical Services' air ambulance aircraft has completed 700 flights, attending to 804 patient cases. This milestone highlights the critical role of the air ambulance service in providing timely medical care across the country.
The air ambulance service, a key initiative under President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration, was established to enhance emergency medical care accessibility in the Maldives.
Operated in collaboration between Island Aviation Services, the Ministry of Health, and the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), this transformative initiative ensures swift and safe critical care delivery to patients in need. The service utilizes a specialized aircraft, a Dash 8-200 series aircraft.
The service operates 24/7, ensuring rapid response to emergency medical situations across the Maldives.
