Trans Maldivian Airways Awarded World’s Leading Seaplane Operator at the World Travel Awards

Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, has once again been recognized for its excellence in aviation. At the 31st Annual World Travel Awards held on November 24, 2024, in Portugal, TMA was honored with two prestigious titles: World’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2024 and Indian Ocean’s Leading Seaplane Operator 2024. Notably, this marks the tenth consecutive year that TMA has secured the Indian Ocean award.

Since its inception, TMA has redefined air travel in the Maldives, providing seamless connectivity and bespoke transfer solutions. The airline operates a fleet of 65 DHC-6 Twin Otters, including 13 resort-branded aircraft and two VIP-configured planes. TMA connects over 80 world-class resorts across 16 atolls with more than 400 daily flights, playing a pivotal role in supporting the Maldives’ reputation as a top global travel destination.

Reflecting on the achievement, Mr. A.U.M Fawzy, Chief Executive Officer at Trans Maldivian Airways, expressed his gratitude:

“We are deeply honored to have received these prestigious awards from the World Travel Awards. It is incredibly gratifying to see our consistent services and commitment to excellence recognized on this global platform. Here at TMA, we constantly strive to innovate and elevate the standards of seaplane operations, ensuring that every flight is a memorable experience that exceeds expectations”.

In addition to the World Travel Awards, 2024 has been a remarkable year for TMA. The airline was named the Leading Tourist Transport Provider (Air) at the South Asian Travel Awards and received the Best Luxury Seaplane Lounge title at the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards for its Infinity lounge. Furthermore, TMA’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility became the first in South Asia to be recognized as a DHC-Endorsed Service Center.

As the Maldives anticipates record-breaking tourism growth, TMA continues to invest in expanding its fleet and services. The recent introduction of two new resort-branded aircraft positions the airline to meet the dynamic demands of the industry while maintaining its focus on personalized guest experiences.
