Breaking: A DHL Boeing 737-400 Crashes Near Vilnius During Final Approach

A DHL Boeing 737-400 freighter en route from Leipzig, Germany, to Vilnius Airport (VNO) crashed near Liepkalnis Hill. The crash occurred at approximately 5:30 AM local time, just as the aircraft was on its final approach to the airport.



The aircraft, operated by DHL, was carrying cargo and had no passengers on board. According to initial reports, the plane went down near residential areas. Emergency services, including Vilnius Airport’s fire truck and headquarters team, were dispatched to the scene.


City services are currently working on-site to manage the aftermath of the crash. The Lithuanian Civil Aviation Administration has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.


In an official statement, Vilnius Airport said that the aircraft crashed in Liepkalnis at 5:30 AM Lithuanian time. Emergency services from the city are actively responding at the scene, alongside a Vilnius Airport fire truck and a team from the airport's headquarters, which have also been deployed to assist with the situation.
