ATR Celebrates Milestone with 1,700th Aircraft Delivery

In a significant milestone for the aviation industry, ATR, the world-renowned regional aircraft manufacturer, has delivered its 1,700th aircraft. This landmark delivery, an ATR 72-600, was made to Air Corsica.

Founded in 1981 as a joint venture between Aérospatiale of France (now Airbus) and Aeritalia (now Leonardo), ATR has consistently set the standard for regional aviation. The company’s first aircraft, the ATR 42-200, received its Type Certificate in 1985, and since then, ATR has continued to innovate and expand its fleet.

The ATR 72-600 delivered to Air Corsica is equipped with the latest Pratt & Whitney PW127XT engines, which offer a 20% reduction in maintenance costs and at least a 3% reduction in fuel consumption compared to its predecessor.

This delivery completes Air Corsica’s transition to a modern fleet, enhancing the reliability, comfort, and environmental efficiency of its operations. The airline now operates seven ATR 72-600s, ensuring robust connectivity for Corsica’s four airports: Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi, and Figari.

Marie-Hélène Casanova-Servas, President of Air Corsica’s Supervisory Board, emphasized the importance of this milestone for the airline and the region.

“By investing in a modern fleet, we are ensuring that our island remains well-connected, fostering growth and opportunities for our communities,” she stated.

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, ATR’s Chief Executive Officer, added,

"Delivering the 1,700th aircraft marks a major milestone in our partnership with Air Corsica and highlights our shared commitment to setting the standard for regional connectivity".

The delivery of the 1,700th aircraft underscores ATR’s resilience and its commitment to providing highly efficient and versatile aircraft for the regional market.
