Jet-A1 Fuel Now Available At Maafaru International Airport

Following months of preparation the fuel firm at Maafaru International Airport is established and in operation and all arriving aircraft will now receive Jet-A1 fuel.

The initial plan to set up fuel at the airport was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Maafaru International Airport receives high private jet traffic the airport is expected to generate significant revenue from fuel sales.

Apart from private jets national carrier Maldivian is the only scheduled airline which operates flights to the airport. The carrier also planned to launch international flights directly from Maafaru.

Maafaru was built under a grant of USD 60 million by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and features a 3,500 meters long runway which can accommodate A320 and Boeing 737 narrow-body jet aircraft.
